Since the 5-piece set doesn&#8217;t accommodate any guests, we opted for something a little larger.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option 2:\u00a0Drop-Side Table<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We found this antique dining room table\u00a0at a second-hand store. It\u2019s a drop-side table, made out of solid maple.\u00a0 In the picture below, you can see the left-side of the table is folded down.\u00a0 The right side folds down as well, so you can have a\u00a0long narrow table.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Drop-Side-table-in-store.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-727\" alt=\"Drop Side table in store\" src=\"https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Drop-Side-table-in-store.png\" width=\"293\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You just can\u2019t find\u00a0dining room sets\u00a0like this anymore. It was on display with six chairs, but when we went to pick it up, the owner of the store told us that she found two captains chairs in the back of the store that go with the set. So, we have a table and eight chairs for less than the price of a brand new 5-piece dining room set.\u00a0 I love a good deal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Lake-house-dining-room-table.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-726\" alt=\"Lake house dining room table\" src=\"https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Lake-house-dining-room-table.jpg\" width=\"248\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since there is a window in the room, we did not add any extra furniture.\u00a0 Our dishes and glassware fit in the kitchen.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a good thing, since a hutch would have crowded this small dining room.<\/p>\n<p>The drop-side table\u00a0turned out to be\u00a0the perfect choice.\u00a0 It was practical and flexible.\u00a0 We keep one side of the table down\u00a0when it&#8217;s just our immediate family.\u00a0 When guests arrive, we can put up the leaf and use the full table.<\/p>\n<p>Are you\u00a0dealing\u00a0with a small house?\u00a0 You may find the following article helpful: <a href=\"https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/?p=685\" target=\"_blank\">How to Organize the Shoes in Your Entryway<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do you have a small dining room?\u00a0 If so, we have some solutions.
