{"id":3087,"date":"2014-05-02T07:10:50","date_gmt":"2014-05-02T11:10:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/?p=3087"},"modified":"2014-05-02T07:08:35","modified_gmt":"2014-05-02T11:08:35","slug":"sprucing-home-houseplants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/?p=3087","title":{"rendered":"Sprucing Up Your Home with Houseplants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Does your home need a little makeover?\u00a0 If so, consider adding a few houseplants to freshen up a room.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s take a look.<\/p>\n<h3>Decorating with Houseplants<\/h3>\n<p>Decorating your home can be easy when there is a big holiday like Christmas or Easter.\u00a0 We have so many decorations, that it&#8217;s easy to fill the mantle.\u00a0 But how does your family room look off-season?\u00a0 If it&#8217;s feeling a little bare, consider adding a houseplant or two.<\/p>\n<h3>Spider Plants<\/h3>\n<p>In the picture below, we added a spider plant to our mantle.\u00a0 It&#8217;s on the larger side, and anchors the left-side of our mantle.\u00a0 We opted for a spider plant with solid green leaves.\u00a0 There are also spider plants with green and white leaves.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Spider-Plant.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3089\" src=\"https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Spider-Plant-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Spider Plant\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Spider-Plant-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Spider-Plant-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Spider-Plant-624x832.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We chose this\u00a0spider plant\u00a0in particular because it has the potential to harvest more spider plants.\u00a0 To do this, we will cut off the little spider plants and put them in water.\u00a0 It will form roots, and we can transplant it into a pot with dirt to create another houseplant.\u00a0 The process is very easy.<\/p>\n<h3>Selecting Houseplants<\/h3>\n<p>When selecting houseplants, take into consideration the light in your room.\u00a0 Some plants require more light than others.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll also want to think about maintenance.\u00a0 The plants we selected are relatively easy to maintain.\u00a0 Other houseplants may require more work.<\/p>\n<p>Here is another example of a houseplant.\u00a0 We chose one with large leaves.\u00a0 This one is two-toned, with a little bit of height.\u00a0 It serves as the anchor for the right side of our mantel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Houseplant.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3090\" src=\"https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Houseplant-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Houseplant\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Houseplant-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Houseplant-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/runningahousehold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Houseplant-624x832.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Adding houseplants are a simple way to spruce up your room.\u00a0 Plants can soften a room, and give it a comfortable feeling.<\/p>\n<p>Happy gardening! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Does your home need a little makeover?\u00a0 If so, consider adding a few houseplants to freshen up a room.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s take a look.
