Try our three-step process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Are you feeling overwhelmed with things to do around the house?\u00a0 Our\u00a0three-step\u00a0process can help you.\u00a0 We offer <em><strong>printable forms<\/strong> <\/em>below to help you set your priorities and plan your week.<\/p>\n<h4>Feeling Overwhelmed with Household Chores?<\/h4>\n<p>It\u2019s easy to get overwhelmed with things to do.\u00a0 It happens from time to time, especially when the seasons change, since our schedules change, along with the chores and tasks around the house.\u00a0 Stress can also happen when there\u2019s a major holiday coming up, like Easter or Christmas.<\/p>\n<h4>Where to start when you\u2019re feeling overwhelmed<\/h4>\n<p>Sometimes, when there\u2019s too much to do, you may not know where to start.\u00a0 That can result in nothing getting done at all.\u00a0 So, start by thinking about what you want to get done this week.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s easy to\u00a0create a long list of things to do.\u00a0 However, at the end of the week, you may find that you completed many of the tasks, just not the ones that really mattered.\u00a0 That\u2019s why you\u2019ll want to set some priorities and schedule time on your calendar.\u00a0 Let\u2019s look at a real life example.<\/p>\n<h4>Three Steps to Planning Your Week<\/h4>\n<p>Our example for this purpose is the week of April 7<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 We are officially in the spring season, and Easter is less than two weeks away.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Step #1: Determine what you want to get done this week.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In order to answer this question for this time of year, we took a look at our Spring Cleaning Checklist, Easter Checklist and April Household Chores Checklist.\u00a0 (Links to our printables are at the end of the article.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Then we jotted down our top priorities for this week, in no particular order:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drain pool water from pool cover<\/li>\n<li>Take patio furniture out of shed<\/li>\n<li>Put down weed preventer on mulch<\/li>\n<li>Finalize Federal and state income taxes<\/li>\n<li>Decorate house for Easter<\/li>\n<li>Shop for items for outdoor entryway: pansies, doormat, welcome sign<\/li>\n<li>Shop for Easter clothes<\/li>\n<li>Organize children\u2019s clothing (put away winter clothes, donate clothes that do not fit; store hand-me-down clothes)<\/li>\n<li>Work on Spring Cleaning: Dining Room<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Step #2: Group like items together<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We grouped our priorities into activities that could be done together.\u00a0 Here are our priorities, in their appropriate groups:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Outdoors:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Drain water from pool cover<\/li>\n<li>Take patio furniture out of shed<\/li>\n<li>Put down weed preventer on mulch<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2.\u00a0 Money: Finalize federal and state income tax returns<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0 Maintenance: Decorate house for Easter<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0 Shopping: items for outdoor entryway: pansies, door mat, welcome sign, Easter clothes<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0 Organize children\u2019s clothing \/ Hand-me down clothes (Child #1; Child #2)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Five Spring Cleaning Projects<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since one of our priorities was to work on spring cleaning our dining room, we selected five spring cleaning projects.\u00a0\u00a0So there\u2019s one project for each day of the week:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Remove cob webs and dust from ceiling and walls, vents; clean wood trim<\/li>\n<li>Wash curtains<\/li>\n<li>Clean windows and glass doors<\/li>\n<li>Dust and polish furniture (dining room chairs, hutch, curio cabinet)<\/li>\n<li>Vacuum\/Mop floor<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Step #3: Schedule Time to Work on Your Priorities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now, you\u2019ll need to schedule time to work on these priorities.\u00a0 We jotted down the days of the week, Monday\u2013Saturday, and scheduled each priority on a specific day.\u00a0 Then we scheduled one spring cleaning project for each day of the week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\"><strong><i>Tip:<\/i> <i>Since some items are weather dependent, check the weather for the upcoming week before slotting your projects.<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shop for items for outdoor entryway: pansies, door mat, welcome sign; Easter Clothes<\/li>\n<li>Spring cleaning: Dining room: Clear cob webs\/dust from ceiling and walls, vents; clean wood trim<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tuesday (rain)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Finalize federal and state income tax returns<\/li>\n<li>Spring cleaning: Dining room \u2013 Wash Curtains<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Wednesday<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Decorate house for Easter<\/li>\n<li>Spring cleaning: Dining room &#8211;
