Real Christmas trees are beautiful.\u00a0 They look great and smell terrific.\u00a0 One of the disadvantages is that the trees can have sticky sap oozing from\u00a0the branches.\u00a0 If you’re planning to be near a real Christmas tree this season, read about our\u00a0tips on removing tree sap from your hands.<\/p>\n

Soap and water<\/h3>\n

Regular soap and water has worked for us.\u00a0 However, some soaps work much better than others.\u00a0 We found that soap with exfoliator works great.\u00a0 Bath and Body Works makes a Deep Cleansing Hand Soap that has exfoliating beads in it.\u00a0 We always seem to have the Kitchen Lemon\u00a0Scent on hand, and it has worked to remove tree sap.<\/p>\n

We are also huge fans of Sleepy Moon Soaps.\u00a0 This brand is hand-made in Eastern Connecticut, and can be purchased at local farmers markets and artisan shops.\u00a0 After putting ornaments on the tree, a little bit of sap stuck to my fingers.\u00a0 I used the bar of Sleepy Moon Soaps at my kitchen sink, and it all came off.<\/p>\n

Brillo Pad<\/h3>\n

If you have some stubborn sap stuck to your fingers, consider using a Brillo pad.\u00a0 Just be sure to add lots of water so that you make use of the suds.\u00a0 Gently scrub the area with the sap.\u00a0 We’ve tried this ourselves, and it did work.<\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>:\u00a0 Be careful when trying this method, and check your steel wool pad for loose edges.\u00a0 We used the brand by Brillo.\u00a0 It seems to be well made, and didn’t have any pieces of steel wool coming off.<\/p>\n

Mayonnaise<\/h3>\n

If you’re looking for\u00a0a natural way to remove tree sap from your hands, rub them in mayonnaise.\u00a0 Then, wash with soap and water.\u00a0 This combination seems to remove tree sap naturally.<\/p>\n

Toothpaste<\/h3>\n

Toothpaste will also remove tree sap from your hands.\u00a0\u00a0You won’t need the gels or\u00a0extra-whitening toothpaste for this project.\u00a0 \u00a0Just the standard light blue toothpaste.\u00a0 Rub some over the spot with the sap, and the stickiness should rinse off.<\/p>\n
