Silver Maple.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 It sounds like such a beautiful name for a tree, unless of course you\u2019re already familiar with the silver maple.\u00a0 It grows into a gigantic tree, often times splitting into 4-5 full size trees.\u00a0 As far as the maple tree part, well that only means one thing: helicopters.\u00a0 Yes, this is the way that a maple tree reproduces:\u00a0\u00a0the maple tree\u00a0helicopters\u00a0fall off the tree in an effort to seed and grow more trees.<\/p>\n

Cleaning up maple tree helicopters\u00a0from the lawn<\/h2>\n

If they fall on the grass, simply mow them.\u00a0 I prefer to use the bag to capture the helicopters and their seeds.\u00a0 If you mulch your grass clippings, this is fine too. \u00a0Full, thick lawns do not usually allow maple trees to sprout.<\/p>\n

Preventing trees in gardens and in landscaping mulch<\/h2>\n

If you use a weed preventer, like Preen<\/a>\"\", early enough in the season, the helicopter seeds will not sprout.\u00a0 You may want to clean them up, since they will look messy, and stick around until they decompose.<\/p>\n
