What’s Blooming in September

Did you ever wonder what blooms in September? We’ve put together a summary of some of the flowers, trees and fruits that bloom in Zone 5 in September:

  • Apples
  • Asters
  • Coleus
  • Corn
  • Fall Raspberries
  • Grape Tomatoes
  • Marigolds
  • Mums
  • Roses: all types and colors (salmon, red, yellow, pink, white, peach)
  • Zinnias

As of the last week in September, Zone 5 did not have it’s first frost.  Annuals and garden plants are still growing strong.

It’s been a great apple picking season.  Macintosh were ready first in late August and early September.  Cortland apples were right on schedule, and were ready on September 15.
